Getting Started

Who should I call to get started?

Call us and ask for admission. Our admissions coordinator will talk about availability, your insurance, and what happens next.

What articles of clothing should we bring?

Five changes of clothing is about right, plus a pair of comfortable rubber-soled shoes. Everything should be labeled with your name in large letters, not your room number.

Can I bring personal belongings?

Yes, and we’d encourage it. Every room has free cable and a phone hookup, and WiFi is available throughout. A personal TV is fine too, once our maintenance director signs off for fire code.

Insurance & Billing

What insurances do you accept?

We accept Medicare and most HMO plans. Coverage is different from plan to plan, so call our office and we’ll check yours before admission.

Healthcare Services

Does Ridgeway Post Acute offer rehabilitation?

Yes. We have physical, occupational, and speech therapy running out of two gyms, one set up for physical therapy and one for occupational therapy.

When will the doctor see me?

A physician sees you when you’re admitted and at least every 30 days after that. We partner with Pacific Inpatient Medical Group, so doctors are here six days a week.

How often will I have therapy?

The answer is different for everyone, because it depends on your physician’s orders and on how you respond. Our rehab director builds your schedule and goes over it with you. Call us and we’ll talk through what’s typical for someone in your situation.

Do I need to bring my medications?

Check with our admissions coordinator before you arrive, because it depends on where you’re coming from. Bring your current medication list either way. Our nurses manage your medications once you’re here.

How long is a typical stay?

The length of stay varies for each person and depends on their condition, care needs, and progress. Our team regularly assesses each guest’s situation to help determine the right length of stay for their recovery and well-being.

Amenities

Are activities available?

Every day. Musical performances, fitness and stretching, games, gardening, trivia, and field trips around Petaluma. The monthly calendar adds birthday parties and ice cream socials.

What is your dining program like?

Meals are built around your physician’s orders. A registered dietitian interviews you when you arrive about what you like to eat, and our CNAs pass along requests after that.

Policies

Are pets allowed?

Pets can visit. Keep them leashed, bring them current on vaccinations, and clean up after them. Let the charge nurse know on your way in.

What is your visitor policy?

We recommend visiting between 8 am and 8 pm. After that we lock the doors, since most residents are asleep. Let us know in advance if you need to come later.

Questions & Concerns

How do you protect patients, staff, and visitors from COVID-19 and other infectious diseases?

We have an infection prevention nurse on staff and we train everyone on current guidelines. That covers correct use of PPE such as N95 masks, surgical masks, gloves, and gowns.

What do we do if we have personal concerns?

Social services is who to tell. They handle concerns about care and about staff, and they would rather hear it early. For anything financial, our Business Office Manager is the person to ask.
